ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN PROJECT

The Architectural Design Project module involves developing a site-responsive architectural proposal through research, analysis, and iterative design. It emphasizes contextual understanding, conceptual clarity, and spatial organization informed by environmental, social, and cultural factors. The project integrates passive sustainable strategies and material considerations, translating design intent into coherent drawings and spatial experiences.

Project 1A: Pre-design Studies & Analysis

The objective is to develop a deep understanding of the site's characteristics, its urban context, and the socio-cultural dynamics at play. This immersive process—referred to as “sensing the city”—encourages students to critically observe existing site conditions, engage with the lived realities of the space, and connect these insights to the needs of the target users and the overarching project objectives.

Proj. 1b: Design Strategies & Exploration

investigate their design ideas through multiple lenses and possibilities, focusing on spatial quality, formal composition, material expression, and aesthetics. This phase should reflect the student’s inquisitive and experimental approach, demonstrated through a series of schematic iterations that test, refine, and challenge design assumptions.
