Project 2b: Form, Content and Poetics: Melaka Fashion Gallery
In this final project, students are required to design a fashion gallery that will allow users to exhibit (by the fashion designer/curator) and engage (by the visitors) with the cultural fashion items. The fashion gallery is not just a space to
display fashion items, but it also functions as a theatrical performance space. The task is to design a fashion gallery with a permanent or flexible exhibition, which also acts as a multifunctional gallery that can be transformed into a fashion
runway, and a place for visitors to learn, appreciate and experience the specific cultural fashion. It will function as a visitor center that could display interpretive exhibits, include a walk-through historical or cultural journey museum-like exhibition, as well as an interactive and engaging “edutainment” program related to the fashion attire. The design of these spaces and programs requires a meaningful poetic touch architecturally by the students.
