Project 3: Space and Sensory: Self - Exploration through Spaces

Reflection

Completing this project, I was able to sharpen my skills in time management, technical drawing skills and model making. Initially, I felt overwhelmed at the prospect of completing the project as it was a very demanding project with alot of detail and focus needed but that feeling dissipated soon after i was able to work with my tutor in forming the design concept and translating it into mock up models. Setting myself mini-deadlines helped me along the way to stay focused and on track. I was able to form a coherent narrative after a lot of thinking and brainstorming in the form of sketches in the deisgn process sketch journal. Overall, this project enabled me to work on a very detailed level, forming designs with meaningful experiences within and to enhance my techincal drawing skills on a bigger level.

This project allows me to re-examine the 1:1 structure from project 2 and develop it into a series of Sensorial Spaces with a total volumetric boundaries of 20m³ (±3m³) anticipating user’s journey, experience and emotion. It allows us to explore how design principles guide the experience and appreciation of space and how does structure and materiality influence the sensorial experiences in a space.
